Ceramic glazes are made up of oxides held in a
glass matrix. The glaze characteristics are determined by which oxides are present in the
glaze and in what proportions. The Glaze Calculator is designed to make it as easy as
possible to formulate glaze recipes from raw materials so that the oxide proportions fall
within the parameters required for a particular firing range and glaze effect.
